PYTHON CODING WITH RASPBERRY Pi
AGES 13 - 17
Enter a world where modifying script language, writing code, implementing game design, and comes together in a low-cost credit-card sized computer called the Raspberry Pi. In this camp, Students will be racking up lines of code using Python’s IDLE source code editor. They will manipulate builds in Minecraft, edit native Raspberry Pi games, create a text-based game in Python’s IDE, and use the Pi to create a short stop motion animation film. Students will analyze and edit code, refining their programming skills as they review the results of their changes. After an understanding of the programing language is established, students will add their own creative touches to each project.
OBJECTIVES (Camp Highlights)
Identify syntax, class inheritance, object types, conditionals and decision statements in the Python scripting language
Modify Python scripts to change structures, behaviors, and mechanics in a virtual space
Execute basic Python code on the Raspberry Pi to create a text-based game
Test and iterate Python scripts to improve functionality and accuracy of command functions
Collaborate with peers to problem solve and write efficient, reliable Python code
Students will modify and write Python code to create large scale Minecraft builds.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Teens who want to learn a programming language using a popular game platform
