The script is ready and camera batteries are charged. Time to start production! In this hands-on, immersive filmmaking camp, students produce, direct, light, shoot, and edit like experts. They will explore key concepts of filmmaking including storytelling essentials, camera anatomy and function, location scouting, scripts and storyboarding, film editing, and critical analysis. Students work in small production crews to create uniquely crafted stories. They will hone their project management, communication, and technical skills through a fast-paced mix of instruction and exercises. Students will regularly interact with video cameras, computers, iPad devices, and professional editing software bringing their stories to life!
- Identify the anatomy of a film camera
- Apply filmmaking principles such as rule of thirds, camera angles, and shot sizes
- Cast, shoot and edit a pre-written script or storyboard
- Utilize professional editing techniques to improve pace and structure of the story being told
Students will produce, direct, and edit short films that employs classmates as crew members.
