CAMP DESCRIPTION

Kids love to draw, doodle and dive into imaginary worlds. In this virtual camp, students get to do just that as they bring characters to life through animation. Following the 12 principles of animation, students will create characters that adhere to basic laws of physics and evoke personality and visual appeal. They will start with the traditional fundamentals, such as the "Bouncing Ball," but with a twist, crafting a fun personality for each of their unique animations. They will explore storytelling techniques and storyboarding to enhance emotional appeal. Each day they will reinforce entertainment principles & techniques to elevate the fun and engagement of their animation projects. By the end of this camp, students will have the art and animation skills to create exciting animation projects at home!

Full Week Live Camps

  • Live Instructors

  • Week Long Camps, M–F

  • 20 hours of instruction total

  • 4 hours of learning each day

    • 10am-12pm (EST)

    • 2pm - 4pm (EST)

OBJECTIVES (Camp Highlights)
 

  • Apply the 12 Principles of Animation to objects, scenes, and characters

  • Act out and record a reference video to implement personality in animations

  • Create 2D animations by drawing individual frames to create motion

  • Script and storyboard an original story for a 2D vector-based animation

  • Utilize Adobe Animate to create animations at home

 
FINAL PROJECT

Students will create story-based animation that includes the 12 animation principles every animator must know.
