THANKSGIVING WORKSHOP
Robo Racers: Sphero Challenge Day!
November 25, 2025
$75
Ages: 7-12 | 9am - 5pm
This workshop invites young explorers to turn play into problem-solving as they guide their Sphero robots through an exciting obstacle course! Students will start the day with a fun “human coding” activity that teaches the importance of giving clear, step-by-step instructions when programming robots. Then, they’ll measure, test, and strategize as they program their robots to navigate a premade course full of twists and turns. Along the way, students will practice breaking down big challenges into smaller steps, experimenting with trial-and-error, and thinking like engineers. By the end of the day, they’ll see how coding and creativity come together in a fast-paced robot racing challenge!

Learning Objectives
Design and Follow Step-By-Step Instructions: Students will construct step-by-step instructions using unplugged “human coding” activities to understand how robots interpret and execute commands.
Program and Test Sphero Robots: Students will use block-based code to control Sphero movement (including speed, direction, and turns) and will adjust and refine robot instructions based on trial-and-error results.
Develop Problem-Solving and Strategic Thinking: Through a series of robot challenges, students will work together to design and test strategies to complete tasks efficiently, achieve shared goals, and improve robot navigation.
