Robotics

KIDS AGES 7–12

Duel Robots in the Robotics Olympics!
Robots are cool. Just think about R2D2 and C-3P0 from Star Wars. How would the rebellion have ever succeeded without the help of their mechanical friends? Fantasy or not, it is clear that robotics are vital to our everyday lives. They are seen in auto, medical, manufacturing, and space industries. In this camp students will understand their place in our world by participating in multiple interactive, creative, and challenging activities that encourage a love of science, technology and engineering. As students design, program and control a fully functional robot, they will explore the essential characteristics of robots (sensing, movement, energy and intelligence), learn the basics of electricity and circuits, operate microcontrollers, and apply their newfound robotic principles in a final and competitive robot challenge.

WHO IS THIS FOR?
Campers who love robots and want to learn how to program them

STUDENTS WILL

• Identify the basic components of an electrical circuit
• Program and control a fully functional robot
• Identify the sequence of communication between the robot and the programmer
• Plan, test and modify sequences of instructions
• Implement the Engineering Design Process as you design, build, test and improve robotic functions

FINAL PROJECT

Simulated Robotic Olympics where individual robots compete in events such as movement of objects, line following, sprinting in a race and retrieving targets

CAN I CHOOSE MORE THAN ONE WEEK?

You can join us for as many weeks as you like during the summer, and even choose the same theme. Since the themes are tailored to your child's interests you'll have a whole new experience.

DO YOU PROVIDE LUNCH AND SNACKS?

Students need to bring their own lunch and a preferred snack. We’ll provide water and some healthy snacks.

ARE THERE EARLY DROP OFF and LATE PICKUP TIMES?

Early drop off is from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Late pick up is available until 6:00 p.m.

IF THE WEEK I WANT IS FULL, IS THERE A WAITING LIST?

For those classes that are already full, we will maintain a waiting list. To get into the waiting list, you must complete an online application indicating the session in which you are interested. No fee or credit card information is required at this point. As spaces become available, the first name in the waiting list will be called to offer the space.

How are refunds processed?

If you need to cancel or withdraw from a camp, please notify our office as soon as possible, either by phone or in writing (mail or email). A cancellation fee will be applied. No refunds will be given after a camp begins.

Can my CHILD take the same Summer Camp more than once?

Yes. Each camp has different roles and we adapt to the interests of the child within the project.

HOW DO DISCOUNTS WORK?

Discounts will be applied after checkout when you enroll more than one child at the same time.
