GAME DESIGN & CODING

HOMESCHOOL KIDS (AGES 7–12)

Every great game includes well-crafted gameplay and an immersive virtual world. In this interactive program, students will learn and test these fundamental concepts of Game Design and Development using a sandboxed scripting language and drag-and-drop action sequences. Students will hone basic programming skills, acquire scripting techniques that can be transferred to other programming languages, and ultimately deliver an imaginative, playable, and multidimensional game that can be shared with family and friends.

STUDENTS WILL

  • Design a completely stand-alone executable game that can be played with family and friends.
  • Code character abilities (such as moving and throwing fireballs).
  • Code enemy AI and other in-game challenges (Oh no! Goblins are charging at me!).
  • Problem-solve and debug programming errors.
  • Develop and deliver narrative within an interactive game environment.

WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN'T START BY THE START DATE?

Our programs are comprehensive, meaning that they cover a lot of material during its duration. The programs run from January to May 2017; and resume from August through December 2017. If you cannot start at the beginning of the January term, there will be another opportunity start in October 2017.

What if my child misses a sesSion(S)?

If your child has to miss class because of vacation or other commitment, we'll arrange for you to come at another schedule time to make up the hours for that month.

IF the program I WANT IS FULL, IS THERE A WAITING LIST?

For those sessions that are already full, we will maintain a waiting list. To get into the waiting list, you must complete an online application indicating the session in which you are interested.  As spaces become available, the first name in the waiting list will be called to offer the space.

CAN I DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP?

Yes, but you will need to sign the children in and let us know who is picking them up. At the time of pick-up, our staff will ask for ID to match the name you provided at drop-off. You can also wait and relax in the comfort of the parents' lounge area.
